Invisalign Clear Braces

Discreet tooth straightening braces

Invisalign works by gradually moving your teeth into a more flattering position. You wear each aligner for 2 weeks to move your teeth a limited distance and every 4 to 6 weeks, you will visit your Invisalign dentist here again to collect your next aligners and continue the treatment journey.

To find out if you’re a good candidate to have your smile vastly improved by Invisalign braces, why not book a consultation with our resident Invisalign expert. Within a few months you could have straight teeth and the perfect smile you always wanted.

Invisalign aligners work by gradually dragging your teeth into a more flattering position. You wear one aligner for 4 to 6 weeks to move your teeth a limited distance, before visiting our orthodontist here again to have your next aligner fitted, which will continue the journey.

The aligners are removable so you will be able to take them out to eat and brush your teeth. This means that your diet is not restricted in the same way a metal fixed brace can limit you. As long as you wear your aligners for 20 hours of every day, your teeth will be straight in a reasonably fast time.

Everything you need to know

How do the Invisalign aligners straighten teeth?

The aligners make slight adjustments to the positioning of your teeth, by applying pressure to targeted teeth. Feeling the force, your teeth will gradually shift away from their starting positions to a newer, more flattering position. The next aligner will move them further. The force on each individual tooth is highly controlled.

What are the benefits of Invisalign?

Invisalign braces are very discreet. You won’t suffer any social awkwardness, whilst wearing them, in the same way you may with traditional fixed metal braces. You won’t get food stuck in them and you can eat whatever you want, because they are designed to be removed before mealtimes. Additionally you will see the whole journey of your teeth from beginning to end during your first appointments with your dentist, thanks to 3-D computer imaging.

How long is the treatment time?

The treatment time depends on the severity of the alignment issue, but on average it’s 9 to 18 months.

Does the treatment hurt?

Any discomfort is minimal and usually limited to a slight discomfort for the first couple of days of wearing each new aligner, but this soon settles down.

Will the aligners affect my speech?

The adjustment period after each aligner fitting may affect your speech ever so slightly, until you get used to the sensation. This should only last couple of days each time.
